Ruddy Turnstones

No, I’m not being rude about Turnstones. That’s their full name.

I love to see them skipping over the waves, their wings almost touching the fast-moving surface.

And I love that reddish (ruddy) colour on their backs as part of their disruptive camouflage. It’s the perfect imitation of seashore, rocks and seaweed.

This one saw me.

If a human sees you taking their photograph out in the wild and they look at you as you photograph them, it’s not really classified as street photography. It suddenly becomes portrait or some-such thing.

Does this Ruddy Turnstone seeing me, and catching my eye, mean it’s a Ruddy portrait?
