Industrious Linnets
I love to see Linnets, with their bouncing flight, and constant twittering. They are nesting in my garden again. They perch on the wind-burnt stems of wind-wrecked Sycamores and survey their territory. The most nests I’ve had in my garden at any one time is three and each has attempted several broods. It’s clearly a good place for them, which is reassuring because the UK population is estimated to have fallen by 57% between 1970 and 2014.
The female is currently lining this year’s nest
I’m hoping for many happy broods this year, so we can continue to enjoy bouncing and tinkling for many years to come.
