The goat-sellers at Wamunyu market

We’re heading to Wamunyu Market on our way back to Kenya Connect’s headquarters building. It’s clearly an experience our Kenyan partners want us to have. The sights and sounds of a Kenyan market are everything you would want your sensory overload to experience. It’s hot here and yet people have heavy clothing. There are chickens galore and the piles of fresh fruit and vegetables around the periphery are a feast for the eyes.

We wander into the main square which is full of goats and cattle for sale. I love the goat sellers. I wonder how far they have come with their animals.

I particularly love this man’s face.

Another goat seller is dressed in a jaunty red jacket with contrasting buttons. He’s lively and talkative. He’s clearly hoping to develop a connection with us and he accompanies us part of the way with a running commentary.

I love his initiative.

In the corner are women in fabulous print dresses with ropes laid on the ground. At Wamunyu Market you have everything you need. You can buy a goat from the goat sellers and then buy a rope to lead your goat home with rope from the rope sellers.
