Spotting a Little Bee-Eater
There’s a beautifully coloured bird with vibrant yellow cheeks flitting from perch to perch.
It’s a Little Bee-Eater, Merops pusillus.

What a stunner.
They have the most intense electric blue patch over their eyes and the adults have orange breasts.

I really want to get photographs of them with prey. I’ve seen wonderful photographs of Bee-Eaters with butterflies and with so many species of bees, wasps and hoverflies, that it would be wonderful to see them close-up.
It doesn’t happen. Sometimes that’s okay.
Today it’s okay.
