Osprey kerfuffle
I’m walking along the path by the side of the Lago di Alviano in Italy when I hear a kerfuffle on the other side of the lake. I can see a large bird being mobbed by Hooded Crows. I can tell from the way it’s flying, and by the fact it’s carrying a very large fish underneath it, that it’s an Osprey.

Here in Italy they’re called Falco pescatore, the Fisher Falcon.
It lands on a concrete base at the furthest point of the lake and proceeds to eat its fish, while being hounded by the Hooded Crows. It’s definitely not the most relaxing way to enjoy your meal.
Here are some of my other Osprey encounters: – these were closer!
