Tree studies

By tree studies I don’t mean academic studies of arboriculture or forestry; I mean really looking at a tree; studying it. On a walk through town I spotted this tree and decided to have a good look at the bark. The beauty and complexity of the growth patterns, stretch marks and wounds mean it’s just like meeting and getting to know a person.

Little Egret

Small white heron: check. Black beak: check. Yellow feet: check. It must be a Little Egret. What a charming bird.
