When Robin and Blackbird meet

Within bird species there’s a strict pecking order. It’s played out in battles over territory, food and mates. Robins are some of the most obvious users of pecking order.

They are on the alert to any threat, as being deposed from their territory may mean winter starvation.

There’s also a pecking order between species.

And here, despite the feisty Robin, this Blackbird is top bird.
