  Yes, the Supreme Court decision was a very important one – and as clear as day. Organisations acting as if they need to wait for guidance when the law has been the same since 2010 is deeply dishonest.

Well she also caused much uproar on Twitter when she said that ‘ Rising Christian nationalism is a threat to us all.’

I can’t wait to read her take on certain other religions! ( One in particular!)

Thank you for taking the time to write this. As a biologist (hah!) I find bad-faith arguments like dr Helm’s incredibly irritating, and don’t even get me started on the “let me explain this to you kiddos” faux bonhomie they invariably come wrapped in.

It is interesting that these attempts to redefine biological sex itself as a non-binary phenomenon have all emerged in online forums very suddenly and very recently. I suspect it’s a deliberate reframe by trans activists – now that their traditional “gender is a spectrum” argument has devolved into laughable levels of granularity and fails to elicit anything other than an eyeroll from the majority of people, they are trying to muddy the waters and conflate sex with gender again, using chromosomal anomalies and DSDs as convenient biological props.

  It’s fascinating how society produces these movements which appear as if they are coordinated. People will always believe utter nonsense, but what worries me is the vulnerabilities of the checks and balances which would normally keep unscientific claptrap out of reputable scientific journals and the willingness of educated people to promote what are patently untrue statements. We’re living in challenging times.
