This pink Jay with electric blue wing flashes is a classic case.

I’m at Stover Country Park, as it’s the nearest place I can visit with decent bird life where I won’t crash my car on the ice on the journey there. There’s a ready supply of monkey nuts, for which I have Glyn to thank. Despite the fading light, a pair come to visit.

The Jay’s scientific name is Garrulus glandarius. Garrulus means noisy and glandarius means acorns. It’s a noisy acorn-eater. In this case, it’s a noisy peanut-eater.
