Laverick in heather

There’s precious little heather moorland left on Westray. Most of the land has been converted to pasture with a monoculture of grass, or converted to crops. There are a few places where heather moorland persists and there Skylarks sing and Twite twitter.

Here’s a Skylark, or a Laverick as Orcadians would call it, with its crest erect amongst the heather.
