Deadwood

Sidmouth - the Hall of Einar - photograph (c) David Bailey (not the)

There’s a beautiful piece of driftwood on the beach at Sidmouth. It’s the sort of thing which would become an essential structural part of a house if it had washed up on Orkney a century or so ago. Either that, or a beautiful piece of heirloom furniture. It might even have become part of an Orkney chair.
