Little Egret

A Little Egret overhead at the Lower Otter Restoration Project. I love the way the colour of their irises coordinates with their feet.

I’m glad they are no longer killed for hats in the UK.

The RSPB was founded in 1891 with the merger of The Plumage League and The Fin, Fur and Feather Folk. The Plumage League was founded by Emily Williamson in Didsbury, to campaign against Great Crested Grebe and Kittiwake skins and feathers being used in fur clothing. The Fin, Fur and Feather Folk was founded by Eliza Phillips, Etta Lemon, Catherine Hall and Hannah Poland in Croydon.

That’s definitely a feather in the RSPB’s cap.
