Recreating Tunnicliffe’s Stonechats

Ever since I discovered Stonechats and Charles Tunnicliffe’s portrait of them, I’ve wanted to reproduce his painting in a photograph. Here’s the full story:

I’m out at Aylesbeare Common when I see one on fresh coconut-scented Gorse. This is the image I’m looking to recreate:

It’s important in life to know when something’s ‘good-enough’, isn’t it? I have a feeling that Tunnicliffe wouldn’t have given up so easily.
