There’s a plant I recognise from my childhood here at Daisy Nook Country Park. I remember seeing it a little further up the River Medlock near Holden Clough. I can still feel the thrill of being able to identify it. It’s Butterbur, Petasites hybridus, also known as Bog Rhubarb or Devil’s Hat.
It’s great for bees and good for wrapping butter in.
Do a Google search for it today and you’ll find it’s the name for pills, potions and remedies galore. It’s particularly used for migraines and hay fever. It’s also toxic for your liver.
For me, it’s always a delight to find, especially with the sun shining through its small robust flowers.
That’s all the remedy I need.
