The water carriers
To many of the children here, being a superhero means carrying heavy jerrycans of water back to their home to help their family. I’m at Wamunyu Special School on a visit with our literacy volunteers when I see a perfect scene appearing before me. There’s no chance to raise my camera, I can only use my phone to capture a single shot as the motorbike speeds by.
I like photographs which are verbs rather than nouns. They are about something rather than of something. This one appeals to me because of that.
For once, I’m not sure whether the image works best in colour or monochrome.
