Manx Shearwater
I’m greedy. Whenever I see a beautiful bird I’d like to be as close as possible to it without affecting its behaviour at all. These Manx Shearwaters, Puffinus puffinus, in Lyme Bay look so beautiful in this light.
We mustn’t get too close though. So much unnecessary energy is used by birds fleeing from potential predators it can affect their survival.

This one will need all its energy to make it to the coast of South America. Especially since it’s got to get back to breed early next year.

Safe travels and see you next year.
