Stare and Starling

I love how busy and gregarious Starlings are. Their original name was Stare but over time the diminutive form, Starling, came to be used to refer to adults too.

Perhaps in the future we’ll all refer to Puffins as Pufflings?

Aren’t they fabulous in flight?
