Adult Human Female Athlete – a word from the Professor

I recently posted on my Facebook profile about the unfairness of men being allowed to compete in women’s sport, specifically pool. I believe that women’s and girls’ sport should be for females only.

Ultimate Pool tournament

Shortly afterwards I received this meme on Facebook Messenger from a Facebook friend, Dr. Kate Greene, who is a retired Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Measles Meme

My response?

Chat GPT: show me an example of ‘false equivalence’.

A false equivalence is a fallacy in logic. It’s where a misleading comparison is made between two things, suggesting they are alike or equally valid when they are not.

I then received the following from her:

there are less than 10 trans althetes in the NCAA. in 2025 there have been 712 cases of measles with two dead children. I care more about dead children than trans athletes (which studies show do no better than cis athletes if they have been on hormones for at least a year – which is a requirement). your concern for trans athletes is an obsession. my obsession is the destruction of my country where there is no longer the rule of law because the government won’t even answer questions from a judge about how they are trying to get back a legal resident that they “accidentally” sent to an El Salvadoran prison despite the fact that there was a previous court order that he never be deported to El Salvador. where Musk has all my data (including my health data despite laws against that) and his DOGE boys are fucking up our computer systems to find non-existent fraud and making access to my accounts difficult. where a man who doesn’t believe in vaccines is in charge of Health and Human Services and who has no idea that he ended research programs which are helping people with diabetes and cancer. where an unqualified 3 star general is made Chief of Staff of the military over 4 star generals with the required experience. where they have cut jobs at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration which lets me know when tornados and hurricanes are headed my way. where they have fired people from the FAA and NTSB despite the fact that they are actually unstaffed. where universities like the one i used to teach at are told to end DEI programs and stop teaching about race, gender, sexual orientation or lose funding which is a violation of academic freedom and where you could be fired just for teaching your phobic views on trans people, actually. where our history is being deleted because it offends white snowflakes to even think that we aren’t perfect. where our libraries and museums and arts and humanities organization are being cut so ignorance and dullness will reign. where our law firms are threatened for representing groups that support traditional Lockean liberal values (do you even know what those are?). where my state, which relies on the federal government for 40% of its budget just ended the income tax, meaning the poor people in my state will now be paying higher property and sales taxes which hit them much harder than the rich. where my state and my country are making it harder for us to vote (and under a proposed law, even harder for women because they now have to show a passport or a birth certificate which has the same name as their current name – so if you are married and changed your name you also have to bring evidence of that – a bureaucratic mess. that of North Carolina’s Supreme Court just ruled that military people who live in that state but are stationed oversees can no longer vote). fuck your concern about trans athletes and trans pool players. why the fuck do we even have men and women’s categories in pool? it’s not like it requires any real physical strength to be a good pool player. just block me if you don’t like my comments, I have other more important things to worry about. and you should, too

NCAA is the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

My response?

Chat GPT: show me multiple examples of ‘false equivalence’.

Yet another diatribe followed:

you really don’t get the point. there are other more important things to care about. i also don’t care if it is a false equivalence. the point is there are other more important things to be concerned about. so tell me, what have trans people ever done to you? do you know any? I have had several trans students and know others and they are actually some of the nicest people I know. they just want to live their lives as they feel is authentic. as a woman who has never fit the gender roles (I wear men’s clothes, was in a male dominated field, am assertive and intimidating to most people, don’t cook much, have no nurturing skills, and do my own yard work), I understand the need to just be who I am. let them be.

My response?

Chat GPT: give me an example of the ‘red herring fallacy’.

A red herring fallacy is a fallacy in logic where an irrelevant topic is introduced to divert attention from the original issue.

Her response? I’d call it uncalled for:

You truly are a cunt

The Professor then blocked me so that I couldn’t respond.

She managed to work out exactly what I would have responded, though, which is: “Chat GPT: give me an example of an ‘ad hominem’ attack”, so she (temporarily) unblocked me to leave this message:

Ad hominem

An ad hominem attack is a fallacious argumentative strategy where someone attacks the person instead of addressing the argument.

Then the Professor blocked me again.

Analysing the arguments

I think it’s worthwhile analysing the arguments Professor Greene used to support her case that I shouldn’t care about men competing in women’s sports. This is despite Brandolini’s Principle (also known as the Bullshit Asymmetry Principle), which was first proposed in 2013 by an Italian programmer called Alberto Brandolini. It states that:

The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it.

It’s the modern equivalent of an old proverb: “a lie is halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on”.

Let’s have a look at the detail of what the Professor messaged me:

there are less than 10 trans althetes in the NCAA.

Firstly, it’s ‘fewer’ and not ‘less’ for countable objects. It’s also athletes and not althetes. When the Professor says ‘trans athletes’ she means ‘men cheating in women’s sport’. Having one cheating man in women’s sport is too many. What mental contortions does a lesbian feminist have to go through to support men competing against women? How many would be too many for the Professor? How many would be too many for others?

Jonathan Liew is a sportswriter for The Guardian newspaper. This is his view about men who say they are women competing in women’s sport:

Jonathan Liew - sportswriter for the Guardian

Jonathan Liew thinks that the total destruction of all women’s sport would be ‘inspiring’. I think that it’s hard for most women to come to terms with just how much most men despise them. In the eyes of many men, men are people and women are their emotional support animals. Women are props, accessories, admirers, and carers, while people (men) are there to fulfil their own human lives to their fullest potential.

Even one man in women’s sport is too many. There’s an entire infrastructure leading to NCAA athletes. There are girls of all ages being deprived of places, awards, medals, prize money, scholarships and sponsorships. It’s also not just about individuals. They have families with younger children. They have teams and team-mates who are robbed by men in women’s sport.

Cheating men should feel free to be mediocre in male sports rather than dominant in female sports. All men should be disqualified from women’s sport on the basis that they are lifetime drugs cheats.

in 2025 there have been 712 cases of measles with two dead children. I care more about dead children than trans athletes (which studies show do no better than cis athletes if they have been on hormones for at least a year – which is a requirement).

The logic of the Professor’s argument is so poor it is embarrassing for her. It is possible to care about two different issues at the same time. It is possible to have government policies about two different issues at the same time. That’s the entire point of government. In fact, as a Professor of Political Science, it’s probably a large part of her own specialist subject.

The Professor choosing children dying as a false comparator is a pathetic case of emotional manipulation. It’s an attempt to shame me into not caring about safe and fair sport for women. We can have policies which encourage vaccination and remove men from women’s sport at the same time with no impact on each other. Removing men from women’s sport doesn’t increase the number of children infected with measles. As a society we can care about more than one thing at once.

Men who identify as trans don’t lose their extra five inches of height – or the majority of their advantages in bone strength and density and muscle strength because they poison their bodies with wrong-sex hormones. Here are some studies on it:

Transgender Women in the Female Category of Sport: Perspectives on Testosterone Suppression and Performance Advantage

your concern for trans athletes is an obsession.

Mentioning how unfair it is that men are cheating in women’s sport a few times on Facebook isn’t an obsession. Writing huge private Facebook Messenger messages, however, is.

my obsession is the destruction of my country where there is no longer the rule of law because the government won’t even answer questions from a judge about how they are trying to get back a legal resident that they “accidentally” sent to an El Salvadoran prison despite the fact that there was a previous court order that he never be deported to El Salvador. where Musk has all my data (including my health data despite laws against that) and his DOGE boys are fucking up our computer systems to find non-existent fraud and making access to my accounts difficult. where a man who doesn’t believe in vaccines is in charge of Health and Human Services and who has no idea that he ended research programs which are helping people with diabetes and cancer. where an unqualified 3 star general is made Chief of Staff of the military over 4 star generals with the required experience. where they have cut jobs at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration which lets me know when tornados and hurricanes are headed my way. where they have fired people from the FAA and NTSB despite the fact that they are actually unstaffed. where universities like the one i used to teach at are told to end DEI programs and stop teaching about race, gender, sexual orientation or lose funding which is a violation of academic freedom and where you could be fired just for teaching your phobic views on trans people, actually. where our history is being deleted because it offends white snowflakes to even think that we aren’t perfect. where our libraries and museums and arts and humanities organization are being cut so ignorance and dullness will reign. where our law firms are threatened for representing groups that support traditional Lockean liberal values (do you even know what those are?). where my state, which relies on the federal government for 40% of its budget just ended the income tax, meaning the poor people in my state will now be paying higher property and sales taxes which hit them much harder than the rich. where my state and my country are making it harder for us to vote (and under a proposed law, even harder for women because they now have to show a passport or a birth certificate which has the same name as their current name – so if you are married and changed your name you also have to bring evidence of that – a bureaucratic mess. that of North Carolina’s Supreme Court just ruled that military people who live in that state but are stationed oversees can no longer vote).

The Professor doesn’t seem very well. If I was sending unhinged rants like this by private message to people I have never met I would be best advised to take a break, have a holiday, close my devices, take some exercise, and avoid the news. Perhaps also avoid alcohol.

fuck your concern about trans athletes and trans pool players.

There’s no need for the Professor to swear at me. I also wish she would use capital letters at the beginning of her sentences.

I’m not concerned about ‘trans athletes’ or ‘trans pool players’, I’m concerned about men in women’s sports and spaces. I’m concerned about men in women’s prisons, women’s rape crisis centres, women’s lesbian dating apps – anywhere women want or need to be with each other without men.

Humans are a sexually dimorphic species with clear differences between the two sexes. On average, males outperform females by 10% on the running track and 30% when throwing objects. Most of the world records held by the greatest women athletes of all time have been beaten by 14 and 15 year old boys.

World Records - athletics

Mind the gap

There are 9,000 males with a time faster than the fastest woman of all time, the incredible 100m women’s world record holder, Florence Griffith Joyner. Her incredible athleticism should be celebrated as one of the most exceptional feats ever achieved by a woman.

It’s tragic that a Vichy lesbian like the Professor would want to destroy women’s sport and women’s rights to women-only spaces.

why the fuck do we even have men and women’s categories in pool? it’s not like it requires any real physical strength to be a good pool player.

Why does the Professor think success in pool is only about physical strength? Firstly, pool is about physical strength, because you need the controlled power to break the pack and return the cue ball to the most advantageous position. You also have an advantage if you are taller because you can lean over the table and get a better angle on the ball, making it easier to pot. You also have an advantage if you have bigger hands because you can form a bridge and avoid other balls while selecting your shot. On average men have more physical power, are taller and have larger hands. Even if that were not the case, women would be more likely to lose when playing against a man.

Why is the Professor in denial of the obvious facts about the differences between men and women that people have understood for hundreds of thousands of years?

There doesn’t even have to be a physical difference between men and women. In non-physical competitive games like chess, women are more likely to lose a match when they are playing remotely against a chess computer if they are told their opponent is a man rather than a woman. Every sport involves a psychological assessment of your opponent and an imagining of your competitive struggle. Feeling you are less likely to win is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Sports - fast facts

Any argument about the physical and psychological differences between men and women and their impact on sporting performance is an irrelevance when you consider that women should have their own sport solely for the reason that they want it. Women don’t need a reason to have their own things without men there. That’s entirely their right. No man should ever stand in the way of women organising to have their own spaces, sports and associations.

just block me if you don’t like my comments, I have other more important things to worry about. and you should, too

I can talk about anything I want. Why does the Professor have such censorious views and think it’s appropriate to tell me what issues I should consider? How unpleasantly controlling. Block her? I’m actually interested in what she has to say in case I can learn from it. The Professor has more important things to worry about? Clearly not, given the length of her messages.

Chat GPT: show me multiple examples of ‘false equivalence’.

you really don’t get the point. there are other more important things to care about.

She really doesn’t get the point that it’s possible to care about more than one thing at the same time. Personally I’m very happy with my choice to defend women’s sport from men. It’s an honourable pursuit. A point of being a good man is to protect women and children.

i also don’t care if it is a false equivalence. the point is there are other more important things to be concerned about. so tell me, what have trans people ever done to you?

I should only care if it’s happened to me? What sort of shabby logic is that?

I shouldn’t care about mugging because I’ve never been mugged? I shouldn’t care about rape because I’ve never been raped. I shouldn’t care unless it’s happened to me? I live with a conscience and a sense of empathy developed from having a good mother. Should I only care about injustice if I’m subjected to it? That seems like the ultimate in selfishness.

I can plainly see women struggling to maintain their boundaries and all good men should support them.

do you know any?

How is it possible to know anything about a subject without having personal experience? How? Perhaps read a book, watch a video, enter a discussion, or think deeply about a subject. Perhaps even read an academic paper or two. She is an academic with the title of Professor; why does she think the sum total of human knowledge is worthless and instead we should base our entire society on what a man says?

I have had several trans students and know others and they are actually some of the nicest people I know.

That’s okay then. They were nice so let’s give men scholarships, sponsorships and sporting medals and glory meant for women shall we? That doesn’t make sense. Women’s athletic achievements are because of their incredible sporting prowess. They’re not an award to men for being nice.

they just want to live their lives as they feel is authentic.

Men can live their authentic lives mimicking sexist stereotypes of women all they like but there’s nothing authentic about men being in women’s toilets, changing rooms, prisons, stillbirth support groups, breastfeeding groups or any space that women want for themselves. I’d call that predatory rather than authentic. What if a woman’s view of a man living their lives as ‘authentic’ is that it’s sexual harassment?

Voyeurism and exhibitionism are the two most common sex crimes. Why would you want to gift men suffering from a serious and debilitating sexual dysfunction unlimited opportunities for voyeurism and exhibitionism? The rights of other women to privacy and dignity aren’t things that the Professor can choose to give away.

as a woman who has never fit the gender roles (I wear men’s clothes, was in a male dominated field, am assertive and intimidating to most people, don’t cook much, have no nurturing skills, and do my own yard work), I understand the need to just be who I am. let them be.

As a man who also doesn’t fit sexist stereotypes, being kind, sensitive, empathetic, caring, and non-threatening, and who enjoys playing with, and caring for, babies and children, I know that none of that makes me a woman. ‘Woman’ is not the performance of sexist stereotypes by men. A woman is a female human who has survived to adulthood, with any personality.

Women’s sport isn’t for ‘feminine’ people. You play sport with your sexed body and not with your identity or by flaunting your sexist stereotypes.

I’m happy to let men ‘be who they want to be’ in the men’s toilets, men’s changing rooms and in men’s sports. They need to stay out of women’s spaces. The Professor doesn’t have the right to give other women’s hard-fought rights away.

After that exchange came the news:

BBC: Transgender women banned from female pool category

Published 24 April 2025
Transgender women have been banned from the female category of Ultimate Pool Group (UPG) after last week’s landmark UK Supreme Court ruling that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex.
The professional body for 8-ball pool said it has amended its eligibility rules so that participation in its women’s events “are open only to biologically born women”.

It seems that the UK Supreme Court agrees with me and not the Professor. Who do you think is right? Please leave a comment.

Let men play with their own balls
