The ultimate Hen Harrier experience

Spending time hoping a Hen Harrier flies my way has been my favourite pastime this summer. After their summer of success breeding on the Mainland of Orkney, Hen Harriers have been heading over the islands exploring for potential new domains in the last few weeks.

I’ve seen more females/juveniles than males and had some incredible experiences. Here’s one:

I hope for a resplendent male to come my way now. I’ve had one passing in front of my house and setting the Swallows off, chasing it like a resplendent plume of chasing courtiers.

Soon, I hope one will be in front of my lens and part of my wildlife photography life will be complete.
