Blackcap in Matera

It’s been a wonderful few days in Matera, but it’s time for us to go back to Rome. What an incredible place Matera is for culture, scenery, wildlife and, well, the food wasn’t very good this time, but that’s what happens if you go out late, don’t book and choose the wrong thing from the menu.
Here’s a smart male Blackcap, Sylvia atricapilla.

What a handsome chap. I wish him well in raising his brood, so others will continue to enjoy Blackcap song from all the wild areas across the Medieval city.
