I was thrilled to see Great White Egrets recently at Lago di Alviano. They’re wonderful birds and a thrill to see fly by.
Yet another thrill was seeing Grey Herons so close. So close that I couldn’t fit one in my viewfinder as it spread its wings past us.
But which is the largest? I had the chance to find out when one of each approached one another and had a face-off at the lake.
Great White Heron. By a neck.
