The Short-Eared Owl makes another appearance
We’ve toured the Island today and our final destination is the Ouse. There were reports of a Short Eared Owl there earlier in the day, so I remain optimistic it’ll still be there. And it is. It’s there, sitting on a fence post very close to where we are walking across the sands. We don’t see it until we’re already close.

It flies off and we search for some pot boilers with some success. More about those soon. As we drive home, tired and hungry, I spot it again and get a shot from the car, through the passenger-side window.

It hops and flies to a post a little further away. What a fine looking bird it is, and a real thrill to stumble across. We wish it happy hunting as we go on our way.
