A familiar sound
There’s a sound I know coming from the tree tops. I can’t see where it’s coming from. My directional hearing is awful. It could be in front of me or behind me, I don’t know. I do recognise it, though. It’s a Greenfinch. Last year they called from the tops of these trees all summer long, and they’re back.
I see a fluttering and peer through the branches. Yes, it’s a Greenfinch:

Then it flies off and I see that there are two. Lovely. And so it begins. I wish them well in nesting this year. I hope I might get an insight into their lives and an opportunity for a closer view, just like I had last year:
More Greenfinches
