Driftwood

There are precious few trees on Westray. Wood for buildings was a scarce material and driftwood was always salvaged by Islanders and used for everything from roof timbers to furniture. Here a piece has come ashore which looks to me just like a giant skull.

It was too heavy to carry home. I wonder if it’s there still?
