The Village Weaver
As we head back to camp, I can see birds bathing in the pools of water left by the ruts of the four-wheel-drive vehicles which pass here.

They are Village Weavers, also known as Black-Headed Weavers, Ploceus cucullatus.

Lovely, aren’t they?

Once you get used to that enormous beak, that is.
Yellow seems to be a very common colour here for birds. Aren’t those red eyes fabulous?

I could spend hours with them, but it’s only five minutes and we’re off back into camp for yet another slap-up meal with impeccable service.

I’m tempted to say that I could get used to this, but I already have.
