Haverin at the Orkney Folk Festival 2026

It’s always a pleasure to hear Haverin sing. Especially since they have so many great voices in the band.

Aileen and Megan share lead vocals:

The lighting at many of Orkney’s smaller community venues isn’t the best. Here there was a mix of spots and fluorescent tubes.

I had to desaturate the images to get rid of all the weird colour casts, and produced a strange colour effect in the process. Maybe I should just have stuck to black and white. Whatever, Megan didn’t complain.

Neither did Aileen, despite the light being unflattering. I think my photos make them look like statues.

Apparently, guitarist and yet-another-vocalist Graeme Miller goes by the name Pansy. I haven’t quite managed to get up the courage to call him that to his face yet. He’s a brilliant guitarist.

And the rest of there band? Hidden in the shadows or behind equipment. In bass-player Amy’s case, I think she was deliberately hiding, despite being the main songwriter in the band.

I only wish they had been able to play a longer set.

And, as if I need an excuse, here’s the video to Haverin‘s Monsters, which I created for them:

There I was thinking that people would be asking me to create music videos for them after seeing this.

Oh well.
