Glossy
There’s a Glossy Ibis overhead again.

That brown stripes head probably means it’s a non-breeding adult.

It’s heading across the water at RSPB Otmoor.

Otmoor is probably a place which inspired Lewis Caroll. Its large, flat, low-lying arrangement of fields in a geometric grid is thought to have inspired the chessboard landscape in Through the Looking-Glass.

If it did, the Glossy Ibis would be a fitting inhabitant of Alice’s looking-glass world.
