Claire’s Music Club at the Orkney Folk Festival 2026

It’s a pleasure to listen to Claire Hastings work with babies and young children and their families in the Pier Arts Centre. She knows exactly what to do and to say and how to do it to get the best out of her audience. Through songs, rhymes, movement and stories, she brings her music to life. I loved it.

In 2015 she earned the prestigious title of BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year.

Even a six-week-old baby was entertained. And I’ve seen the scientific evidence that the best time to start interacting with babies is before birth rather than waiting for six weeks.

And, of course, you’re never too old to enjoy live music.

I know that, because I was delighted.
