Incoming Whimbrel

At first I think there’s a Curlew flying into view. As I watch it approaching it looks smaller, more delicate, somehow.

When it lands in a tree I think it’s odd behaviour for a Curlew.

Then I take a closer look. It’s a Whimbrel.

That shorter, kinked beak, and the defined eye-stripe are distinctive.
