Yellow Umbrella
Do you know that feeling of going somewhere every day and being so familiar with it that you don’t see something special or obvious – and then feeling delighted when you notice it? That’s what I want to do with my art.
Yellow Umbrella Gifts is a gift shop in Newton Abbot that I’ve enjoyed sketching on a postcard. It’s full of hand crafted items with a dizzying array of skills and materials.

Here are a few of the comments on my sketch from Facebook:
Used to be Ivor Dobles. Got my ears pierced there.
Was it Dennis Reece in the past? In the 1970’s, because it looks like the place I got my engagement ring and my dad did a lot of work on grandfather clocks for him? X x
I love the interaction and memories. The shop will be on its way to different premises soon and I wish them well in their move. I look forward too seeing what comes there next and the experiences and memories it will bring.
