The gate at Lustleigh Cleave

I’m a big fan of farmers. They’re an endless source of resourcefulness. Whether it’s emergency repairs, using recycled materials, or simple engineering solutions, look to farmers for answers.

like to think that I can join in with their style slightly. Just look at my attempt at a new door handle with baler twine:

When I saw this gate-stop in Lustleigh Cleave in Devon, my admiration came flooding back. If you have a public footpath through your farmyard and get annoyed by the banging gate, what better way to solve it than with some ready recycling?
