Pochard

The Pochard, Aythya ferina, has been called Pochard since the mid 1500s but the origin of its name is lost in etymological history.

They’re wonderful diving ducks with the males having a black breast and tail and a gorgeous ginger head with red eyes.

They can swim past me any day and raise a smile.
