Wigeon

I love how beautiful Wigeon are close-up.

Their patterns and colours are a delight.

Many come to the UK from Iceland, Scandinavia and Russia in our winter and our local populations swell enormously as they fill lakes and flooded fields. Having 450,000 Wigeon here in Winter is a thrill, since there are probably only 20 or so breeding pairs in the summer.

Don’t you just love that bright head stripe?
