Numenius arquata

There’s a Eurasian Curlew, Numenius arquata, on the Lower Otter Restoration Project. I’ve never seen one this close before.

It’s eating worms and too busy probing in the soft mud to worry about our presence. It’s only a short time since this estuary was flooded by the sea and its natural environment started to reclaim it. The signs are good.
