Fighting Drakes

There’s an awful lot of behaviour going on with ducks. There’s a social order and dominance hierarchy and sexual violence wherever you look on your local village pond. We’re at the Lower Otter Conservation Project when we see a furious fight between two drake Mallards. The aim seems to peck the other one’s bum as hard as possible:

I don’t fancy being a drake, but I suspect being a duck would be worse.
