Redwing

I love to see winter Thrushes in the UK. They seem so wild and unrestrained and when I see them I feel connected to the wild places they have inhabited and travelled through. I saw them over forty years ago and drew one in my nature notebooks:

Today we see one so astonishingly close, we can hardly believe it.
