Purple Sandpiper
I’m used to seeing Purple Sandpipers in Devon in the winter. There are usually a few birds around Brixham Breakwater, and they’re fascinating to watch.
I’ve seen them before, on Papa Westray:
This time I see three of them on the very northern-most coast of Westray.

Yes, I know there are only two of them in the photograph.
Their legs are the colour of seaplants. They let me get so close, it’s a thrill.
