Arctic Terns at sunset

We’ve been out with the Arctic Terns this evening and I’ve loved seeing their behaviour. They interact with all the other bird species which cross their path, normally by screaming verbal abuse at them, sometimes by physically assaulting them.

We’ve taken a circuitous route to get here so we don’t have to run the gauntlet of abuse and accompanying head-pecking which would accompany a straight march. We’ve stayed too late and are hungry, but there’s time for one last photograph as the sun sets.
