Cuckoo and Meadow Pipit

There’s a never-ending battle going on in the meadows and on moorland of Dartmoor. It’s Cuckoo versus Meadow Pipit. The Meadow Pipits which attack Cuckoos are clearly the ones which have been more successful in raising a brood and are well represented in the ones here. Many of the Meadow Pipits which didn’t, clearly didn’t pass on their genes as frequently. They have a personality which has been honed and polished by the relative inheritance of behavioural traits.

Eventually, this Cuckoo took flight after much hassling.

Which was the point.
