Coot contenders
I’ve enjoyed seeing fights between Moorhens before, if enjoyed is the right word. Here’s a Moorhen fight I saw in Rome:
I’ve only seen chases, and not fights, by Coots before today. They’re very territorial, and chases are a common feature of their lives:

The Coots use the same technique and the fight has the same aggression as the Moorhen fights. It’s clearly that time of year.
True to form, it ends with a chase:

They wouldn’t be Coots if they didn’t chase each other from one part of the lake to another. It’s their destiny.
