There, There, My Deer

There are Fallow Deer at Powderham Castle in South Devon. It’s not really a castle, with a motte and bailey, but more a fortified manor house.

I can either look over the wall into the Grade II* listed grounds or I can pay for the privilege of seeing the land the owner’s ancestors stole from us. Inherited wealth on this scale is an affront.

It’s such a beautiful day outside the walls I think I’ll stay here and appreciate nature.

The Fallow Deer are so beautiful to watch in the sunlight. They’re also available in pieces from the Castle farm shop.
