A Pied Flycatcher in the woods

There’s a Pied Flycatcher here:

What a stunning bird.

The Pied Flycatcher’s scientific name is Ficedula hypoleuca. The RSPB estimates there are only 17,000-20,000 pairs left in the UK. They need just the right kind of flies that live in just the right kind of woods, to thrive.

I wish this one well on its journey to Africa for our winter.
