A juvenile Song Thrush passes by

We’re obviously in a great spot here, in this bird hide in Slovenia. The species count is incredible and we’ve seen many juvenile birds coming to the artificial pond.

One of them is this juvenile Song Thrush, Turdus philomelos. I quite like the over-the-shoulder look:

It’s still got a hint of its yellow gape, used for begging for food. It’s an exciting time, learning to be independent and exploring the world outside of your nest, for this Song Thrush and for me.
