There’s a female Blackcap in this lichen-encrusted tree.

Here’s what the male looks like, together with my thoughts on how ridiculous descriptions of birdsong are:

They are a pleasure to watch and to listen to. Opportunities to get a clear photograph of them are tricky. I’ll put this one in my ‘must do better next time’ pile. That’s if I can reach to the top of it. Maybe I can just do it, on tiptoe.
