Grebe action

A little bit of sunshine meant I got up with a spring in my step and hot-footed it to Stover Country Park. There are a couple of Great Crested Grebes there with the beginnings of a nest on the lake.

I lay there on the bank and enjoyed watching them going about their business. Concentrating on wildlife going about its everyday activities is a beautiful and peaceful thing to do. I’d recommend it. One bird was particularly successful at catching fish and came up after diving with a couple of beauties while I was there. This fish had been well and truly speared by the beak of the Grebe.

The second fish appeared even bigger, which made it a more uncomfortable experience watching it being chugged down.

Fresh fish. Delicious. I hope they’ll breed so I can bring you many baby Grebe photographs.
