Great Spotted Woodpecker in flight

I’m working at the moment, so time is precious, and every moment of light is a marvel in these dark, short days. You’ve got to grab a few short hours of sunlight outdoors where you can. I have a brief trip out to Stover Country Park and see a Great Spotted Woodpecker approaching the feeders. It’s a male, with a distinctive red patch on the back of its head. It flies to a high suspended feeder and then away to eat a few seeds. It must be hungry to do that with people around. When it flies to the feeder again, I’m ready:
