This Woodpigeon made a fabulous shape as it flew quickly overhead.

Wood Pigeon - The Hall of Einar - photograph (c) David Bailey (not the)

It’s a massive file and the level of detail in every feather is stunning. As a child I would have viewed my current camera as science fiction. In five years time technology will render this photograph as useless as a poorly printed black and white image from a 1960s book. All that will remain, that is worthwhile, is that uneasy sense of ‘otherness’ that birds bring, and a feeling of desperation that we have evolved to understand the natural world in which we live and yet are so incapable of saving it.
