Plump Brown Rats

Someone’s put bird seed out on a stone next to the path. I’ve seen them do it. They don’t stay, they just put the seed there and then walk off. I wonder if they know just how soon plump Brown Rats sneak out of the undergrowth to devour it?

The birds only have a few seconds to peck a few morsels before the rats arrive for their gourmet meal.
