Thirsty House Martins
Eating flying insects to live must give you a thirst, surely?

When you spend all day crunching flies and taking them to your chicks in hot weather, you must get dehydrated, mustn’t you?

I spotted a part of the river which has both House Martins and Swifts coming down to drink. They’re tricky to get in focus when there are distracting ripples:

But when they are in focus and you can see the splash, flying droplets, ripples frozen in time, and sun sparkles, it all seems worth it.

I don’t like either of these two shots but with a bit of luck and some sunshine I’ll be back.
