Grass of Parnassus
Scattered across the rough grass behind Rack Wick bay are delicate limpid flowers. They are Grass of Parnassus. It’s a plant of peaty grassland, marshland and moor. They are just the sort of flower which would have inspired Matsuo Basho, the master of poetry of the Edo period of Japan.
Inspired by him, I write a haiku:
Cold beauty shining
Star of wet and wilderness
Scent of distant love
